i've seen alot of good bands in my time. for some reason i was thinking about the hand full of bands that i missed out on. one's that i had the chance to see, but for some reason didn't make it. here's what i came up with.
Drive Like Jehu
they only toured the states maybe once or twice, so my chances were limited to begin with. i was going to visit my brother who was living in boulder at the time. i planned on going to the show, but something got screwed up with my greyhound bus ticket and i had to postpone my departure from indiana a few days. geez, if i had to do that one over again i would have bought a plane ticket, right there on the spot. my friend matt saw them play in chicago and he said they set up tents on the stage and each member played the show in their own tent.
Jawbreaker
i clearly remember being in the computer lab at IU, and turning down a ride to see them in dayton on that particular night. i guess i thought they were to trendy at the time. i did get to see jets to brazil later on. i was hoping for an encore of jawbreaker songs, it didn't happen. if there's ever a reunion show, i'm so there.
Born Against
they came indy, but i was grounded for lighting my bedroom on fire. ironically, the show was canceled at the last minute because the building the show was at had a fire. my brother brought me back a shirt.

man, i am fully with you on drive like jehu!!!! so bummed on that. luckily, i did get to see both born against and jawbreaker...and both in dayton. those were the days...i'm gettin all teary-eyed. the band that i always tried to go see but somehow always missed till right before they were done, was SAMIAM. i would find out the day of a show that was outta town and either couldnt get there or i would get to the show right after they finished. finally i got to see them when (somehow) they played here in louisville for a ky derby party/show. i am sure there are others that would be on my list, like misfits/samhain, gorilla biscuits, y.o.t., etc. most bands that were breaking up as i was getting into the scene back in 1986 and was too young to go outta town to see them. you should have people write in with their top 5 or 10 bands they never got to see when the bands were actually around.
Yank Crime is SUCH a great album.. never caught them live but did see Jawbreaker on the Dear You tour and I did get to see Hot Snakes SO awesome.
