october 29th

i ended up taking today off and met my great aunt and uncle for lunch. they are each in their 90's and sharp as a whip. they still drive up here from north carolina. there's actually a random story about my aunt and my friend brett starr: it takes place at least 8 years ago? i know brett was still in high school. anyways, brett was on a family vacation somewhere out east, maybe virginia. he's at a rest stop skating around, and this older lady (my great-aunt) comes up to him and asks if he knows "her nephew andy hutchison". i wish i could have see the look on his face. i guess she thought that since he and i both skated that we might know each other. kind of crazy. after lunch wer'e saying our goodbyes and my aunt says to me "andy, i'm so glad you have a motorcycle". priceless. after that, i ended up riding back roads to bloomington with lee. rode in a sweatshirt all day. not bad for october 29th.

rollin'

today maggie rode her cb100 for the first time. she did really good considering the bike isn't close to being reliable. we've been using starting fluid to get it going. the transmission is a mess and the headlight is out. you'd have problems too after sitting in a barn for 20+ years.

getting rad on hondas

we got maggie's cb100 started today. i did wheelies on my 750 too.

adventures in madison county

it started off as a quick trip up to frankton indiana to check out a honda CB100 for maggie, and it turned into a fall afternoon adventure. turns out the guy selling the motorcycle used to work for my grandparents years ago at their apple orchard. he said my grandfather would always drink coffee with honey. i'm going to try that one tomorrow. we loaded the bike and headed to the old orchard, which has been out of business for a long time. i knocked in the door and introduced myself the man who now owns the property. he gave us an impromptu tour. the place is kind of in shambles and run down. all i wanted was to find something that said "hutchison's orchard". i ended up with a 2x8 foot hand painted sign. got the "ok" to come back anytime. i'll defiantly be back to hunt mushrooms in the spring. after that we went to "canfield's palace". straight up from the movie "hoosiers". full court basketball in the upper level of a barn. if anyone wants to go back sometime and play "horse", i'm down...
